The Junior Huskies Basketball Club was established in the spring of 2000 by the Huskie Men's Basketball Team and the Huskie Men's Basketball Foundation. The intention and ultimate goal of the Junior Huskies Basketball Club is to promote and encourage each athlete's quest to compete at the post-secondary level in the game of basketball. The Club was created to try and fulfill five important goals.
The Junior Huskies Basketball Club provides athletes with an opportunity to compete against and along with the very best basketball players in Western Canada in four age groups during the months of April through to the end of July. These selected athletes will achieve a better overall understanding for the game of basketball as well as become fundamentally sound basketball players. Since the program started, the level of play of the athletes who have participated in each summer has risen dramatically. Evidence of this is seen in their individual and team play during the high school season. Check out the Jr. Huskies' 2004 results.
The Junior Huskies also host their own tournament. The Fourth Annual Prairie Dog Classic will take place in July of 2004. For more information, contact the Huskie Men's Basketball Office.
This program is instrumental for the future success of Huskie Basketball but it does take money to run. If you have any ideas how we can improve this program with sponsorships or contacts you know, please get in touch with the Huskie Basketball Program.
