  Junior Huskies Basketball Club Team

The Junior Huskies Club Basketball Team was established in the spring of 2000 by the Huskie Men's Basketball Team and the Huskie Men's Basketball Foundation. The intention and ultimate goal of the Junior Huskies Club is to promote and encourage each athlete's quest to compete at the post-secondary level.

In 2000, there was only one team (Under-17) which competed in two tournaments, including the famed Big Time tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. The next year the team played an expanded schedule consisting of 25 games in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. The club also hosted the first Prairie Dog Classic tournament in Saskatoon.

The spring of 2002 saw the program add two teams, Under-15 and Under-19, in addition to the Under-17 team. This meant increased opportunities for players to compete in an elite basketball environment. The Under-17 team returned to the Big Time and posted a 2-3 record in Vegas, advancing past the first round of the playoffs.

During the summer of 2003, the Jr. Huskies had a remarkable season, as the three teams posted a combined 51-16 record, taking numerous tournament championships.

This year the Club is adding an additional team, an Under-16 squad, meaning that 50-plus athletes will now have the opportunity to be exposed to an elite basketball experience this summer. It will also host the 4th Annual PDC at the brand new PAC facility at the U of S.

The Jr. Huskie Club teams aim to promote the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men's Basketball Team in the community of Saskatoon and province of Saskatchewan, strengthen the relationship between the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men's Basketball Team and potential high school basketball recruits, and help players improve their skills and fulfill their potential by consistent exposure to high levels of competition.
