Spagrud sets all-time Huskie scoring mark

Saskatoon, Sask. - Andrew Spagrud set the all-time career scoring record at the University of Saskatchewan last weekend during the first of two games in Florida. Spagrud needed nine points to break the record set by Byron Tokarchuk, who scored 3445 points in 171 games from 1983-88. Tokarchuk was a four-time All-Canadian center during his career.

Playing at Broward Community College last Saturday evening, Spagrud set the record on a layup off an assist from Kyle Grant with 4:59 to play in the first half. Spagrud, a three-time All-Canadian and former national Freshman of the Year, was playing in his 170th game as a Huskie. He finished the game with 26 points on 11-15 shooting in a 70-69 loss.

After Sunday's game against Indian River Community College, an 83-81 victory, Spagrud has scored 3492 points. That places him second all-time nationally to UBC's J.D. Jackson (3581 points, 1986-88, 89-92).
