Spagrud named First Team All-Conference

Saskatoon, Sask. - Andrew Spagrud was named First Team All-Conference Tuesday as the Canada West office released it's men's basketball award winners. The University of Saskatchewan fifth-year senior forward became the second Huskie, the first was Byron Tokarchuk, to earn first team honours during four seasons.

Spagrud broke the Canada West Conference career scoring record during his last conference game against Calgary on February 9th. He finished that night with 28 points, setting the record with 2182 careeer points in conference play. That broke the 12-year old mark set by former Calgary guard Richard Bohne of 2171.

This season Spagrud finished fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 20.9 points per game in conference play. He also finished second in the conference in rebounding, grabbing 10.7 boards per game.

He broke the school's all-time scoring record on December 29th at Broward, breaking Tokarchuk's record that had stood for almost 20 years. He finished his career with 3826 points in 186 career games. Tokarchuk previously held the record with 3445 points in 171 career games. He also broke Tokarchuk's school record of 1644 career rebounds by grabbing 1763.
