Spagrud named First Team All-Canadian

Saskatoon, SK - Andrew Spagrud of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies was named First Team All-Canadian Thursday as Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced it's men's basketball awards for the 2007-08 season. Spagrud is only the ninth player in Canadian history, and the second Huskie, to earn All-Canadian honours four times. Byron Tokarchuk was a four-time First Team All-Canadian during his legendary career.

"Andrew has had an outstanding career, and I'm glad he's been recognized by the coaches across the country again for his accomplishments," said Huskie head coach Greg Jockims. "We're all disappointed we weren't able to go deeper in the playoffs, but this is a good way to end the season. Andrew and the other seniors (Kyle Grant, Jordan Harbidge, Rob Lovelace and Mark Lynch) have had a huge impact on our program and accomplished a lot of great things."

Spagrud broke the Canada West Conference career scoring record during his last conference game against Calgary on February 9th. He finished that night with 28 points, setting the record with 2182 careeer points in conference play. That broke the 12-year old mark set by former Calgary guard Richard Bohne of 2171.
