Huskies down Rustlers for second time

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatchewan Huskies improved to 2-0 Friday night, defeating the Lakeland College Rustlers 103-65 at St. Joseph High School. Saskatchewan beat Lakeland (1-4) for the second time in three nights, having won 77-64 in Lloydminster Wednesday night.

The Huskies took a 53-34 lead to the locker room at halftime as Troy Gottselig hit a short jumper at the buzzer.

Newcomer Showron Glover led the Huskie attack with 21 points and nine assists. Sophomore Dan Brudehl added 21 points and seven rebounds. Senior forwards Gottselig and Lane Manson had 14 and 10 points respectively. Gottselig was 7-8 shooting from the floor.

Freshman Nolan Brudehl contributed 15 points off the bench. Michael Lieffers had a game-high 11 boards.

The Huskies shot 58.5% from the floor, and were 7-10 from three-point land.

The Rustlers were led by former Huskie Michael Linklater with 25 points. Ossie Hinds added 10 points.

Saskatchewan will take on the Medicine Hat College Rattlers Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 PM at St. Joseph High School. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
