Huskies defeat Rattlers Saturday afternoon
Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatchewan Huskies came away with their third victory of the week Saturday afternoon. Saskatchewan (3-0) defeated the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (3-2) 100-57 at St. Joseph High School. It was the first ever meeting between the two schools.
The Huskies held a 25-18 lead after the first quarter before pulling away in the second. Stingy defense helped hold the Rattlers to only nine points in the second frame, while the Huskies put up 26. The Dogs led 51-27 at the half.
Junior guard Showron Glover led six Huskies in double-figures, scoring a game-high 26 points in 21 minutes. Glover also had six steals and four assists. Forward Clint Unsworth came off the bench to score 14 points and grab a game-high 11 boards.
Freshman forward Nolan Brudehl had 12 points and eight rebounds. Dan Brudehl, Troy Gottselig and Michael Lieffers added 10 points each.
Gottselig was 5-5 from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Brudehl added five assists.
The Rattlers were led by former Regina Cougar Lance Aldcorn with 14 points. Aldcorn was 4-11 from three-point range. St. Joseph product Brendan O'Brien added nine points in his return to his former high school.
Saskatchewan will take on the University of Regina Cougars Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Physical Activity Complex. Regina (1-0) defeated Medicine Hat Friday night 107-68.
