Huskies host Cougars Wednesday night

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatchewan Huskies will host the Regina Cougars in a non-conference game on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Physical Activity Complex.

The young Huskies are coming off a week in which they won all three of their games to open the 2008-09 season. Regina (1-0) also enters the game undefeated, as they beat Medicine Hat last Friday night 107-68.

"Regina has a veteran team compared to us," said Huskie head coach Greg Jockims. "They probably have a little more continuity than us at this point but it will be a good game. Both teams always play hard against each other. It will be good to see how we stack up against another CIS school."

The Huskies return four players from last years's squad but only one starter, forward Troy Gottselig. Also returning are senior forwards Clint Unsworth and Lane Manson, as well as sophomore guard Mac Fairbairn.

A few of the newcomers have already excited the Huskie faithful with their early season performances. Point guard Showron Glover leads the team in scoring and assists. Dan Brudehl and brother Nolan are both averaging double-figures in scoring, while Michael Lieffers is grabbing nine rebounds per game.
