Hoffman is also the head coach of the junior boys team at Bishop James Mahoney High School in Saskatoon. In his first with the school, and he led the Saints to the 2005-06 City Championship, defeating Mount Royal 62-
43 in the final. The Saints finished the regular season in first place (10-1), and had an overall record of 17-4.
Since the summer of 2003 Hoffman has been a head coach with the Junior Huskies Club program. In the past four years, Hoffman has led his Jr. Huskie squads to a 62-16 overall record and seven tournament titles.
During that first summer, Hoffman was head coach of the 15 & Under Junior Huskies team. The squad finished their summer schedule with a 15-4 overall record, won two tournaments, and made the final of another.
In the spring of 2004, the Junior Huskies established a 16 & Under squad, which Hoffman has now coached the past two summers. The team went 14-5 overall, claiming two tournament championships along the way.
In 2005, he led the Jr. Huskies to a 16-4 overall record. They won one tournament title and made appearances in the final of two others.
Prior to joining the Dogs, Hoffman spent three years as an assistant coach with the senior boys team at St. Joseph High School in Saskatoon. While there he helped the Guardians to a 28-11 conference record over three years, and a second place finish in the city in 2000-01. The Guardians also finished third at the Provincial Championships that same season. While at St. Joe's he coached former Huskies Mark Thompson and Mark Breker.
Before moving to St. Joseph he spent three seasons as an assistant with the junior boys team at his alma mater, Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon. The Bears won the 1998-99 City Championship. He also spent time as a coach in Basketball Saskatchewan Inc.'s spring programs. Hoffman is an NCCP Level III Certified coach.
Hoffman played his high school basketball at Aden Bowman. He played two years on the senior team for former Huskie players John Cleland and Dan Dewar. The Bears were crowned City and Provincial Champions in 1993. In 1994 they finished second in the city.
After graduating in 1994 he attended the University of Saskatchewan. While at Saskatchewan he was a member of the Huskie track and field team (1999-2000) as a pole vaulter. Hoffman earned a degree in Kinesiology in 2000 (B.Sc.Kin), and a year later an education degree (B.Ed).
Hoffman, who was born in Saskatoon, is 30 years old and is working as a teacher for the Saskatoon Catholic School Board. An avid Minnesota Vikings fan, in his spare time he can usually be seen on the links fulfilling his golf addiction.
